15/10/2020 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 14 October, the Vice-President of the European Commission, Maros Šefčovič, confirmed the presentation in November of the revision of the Battery Directive, on the occasion of the launch of the ‘Friends of Battery’ Group in the European Parliament. Mr Šefčovič confirmed that his services are “in the final stage of preparation” for proposing the regulation (repealing Directive 2006/66). This proposal will cover the entire battery lifecycle, he said. The Vice-President insisted on the need to move quickly and hopes to have an agreement between Parliament and the EU Council by 2022, i.e. just before the rise in electromobility in Europe, which he believes will take place in 2023.
