The European Union is continuing its efforts to ensure access to Covid-19 treatments and candidate vaccines. On Thursday 8 October, the Commission announced that it had concluded a new joint procurement framework contract for the supply of Remdésivir (500,000 doses) and had sealed a contract with Johnson and Johnson for its candidate vaccine (200 million doses), should it prove to be effective and safe.
