23/09/2020 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 23 September, the Special Commission on Artificial Intelligence in the Digital Age held its inaugural meeting, during which it elected its Chair and Vice-Chairs. Dragoș Tudorache (Renew Europe, Romania) will chair this special 33-member commission set up for 12 months. He will be supported by Miapetra Kumpula-Natri (S&D, Finland), Geoffroy Didier (EPP, France), Edina Tóth (EPP, Hungary) and Birgit Sippel (S&D, Germany), who will serve as first, second, third and fourth Vice-Chairs, respectively. The task of this special committee, in addition to the Intergroup on Artificial and Digital Intelligence, is to analyse the future impact of artificial intelligence on the economy, to study the issues at stake, to analyse the strategy of non-Member States and to identify the EU’s medium and long-term objectives.
