01/09/2020 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 1 September, the European Commission launched a public consultation on the child rights strategy for 2021-2024, which it intends to adopt in the first quarter of 2021. The new strategy aims to provide a policy framework bringing together all existing and future EU actions and policies on children’s rights under one roof, explains the Commission. It is expected to address both persistent and new challenges to children’s rights not covered by the current 2011 programme, such as risks related to the use of new technologies and artificial intelligence. The strategy will include a list of actions to be implemented by the Commission during the current mandate as well as recommendations for action by other EU institutions and bodies, Member States and stakeholders. Interested stakeholders have until 8 December to submit their comments at https://bit.ly/2DgUYNd (MF)
