Brussels, 23/07/2020 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 22 July, the Dalai Lama welcomed the agreement reached on Tuesday over the budgetary framework and the Recovery Plan between EU Member States (see EUROPE 12532/2). “It is heartening to know that European Union leaders have succeeded in meeting one of the toughest challenges in the organisation’s history by agreeing a package of measures to rescue their economies from the disruption caused by the pandemic”, he said on his Twitter account. He believes that this agreement demonstrates “wisdom and maturity in a world often unsettled by emotional crises”. He also reiterated his “admiration” for “the spirit of the European Union”.
