02/07/2020 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday, 2 July, the European Commission announced that Romania has been referred to the Court of Justice of the European Union. Despite a reasoned opinion and an extension to reply, Bucharest reportedly still has not notified transposition measures for the directive (2015/2436) governing trade mark law, even though the deadline to do so was 14 January 2019 (see EUROPE 11454/21). Romania would be the only Member State in this case. In its press release, the Commission stresses the importance of this directive, particularly in combating counterfeiting. (PH)
