09/06/2020 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 9 June, the European Commission launched the 11th Access City Award competition open to all European cities. The competition is intended to reward a city’s efforts to promote accessibility for people with disabilities. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the contest will pay particular attention to the accessibility of public services in times of pandemic, explained Equality Commissioner Helena Dalli. EU cities with more than 50,000 inhabitants are invited to apply until 9 September 2020. The first, second and third place winners will be awarded prizes of 150,000 euros, 120,000 euros and 80,000 euros respectively. (PH)
