27/04/2020 (Agence Europe) – The European spirits sector, represented by spiritsEUROPE is partnering with ‘Close the Glass Loop’ to boost glass packaging collection to 90% by 2030 and put more recycled glass back in the bottle to bottle glass packaging loop, spiritsEUROPE and the Federation of European manufacturers of glass containers and machine-made glass (FEVE) announced on Monday 27 April. ‘Close the Glass Loop’ is a FEVE initiative which aims to unite the glass packaging value chain under a multi-stakeholder European programme supported by national level action plans. spiritsEUROPE companies and national association members will cooperate with the national glass value chains across Europe to improve the collection and recycling of glass packaging. The focus will be on glass recycling, with the target set by EU legislation (the revised Directive on waste) of 75% by 2030 (see EUROPE 12360/17). (AN)
