EU ambassadors confirmed their agreement on Wednesday 8 April to proposals to activate €3 billion in 2020 for emergency assistance support to intensify the fight against Coronavirus (see EUROPE 12462/4, 12460/4).
The Committee of Permanent Representatives of Member States to the EU (Coreper) has therefore given the go-ahead on Wednesday 8 April to launch the written procedure for the formal adoption of the texts. The written procedure is expected to be concluded on Tuesday 14 April.
The proposals include a proposal activating emergency aid, a corrigendum draft budget plan No 2 for the 2020 financial year, a proposal to mobilise the ‘contingency margin’ in 2020 and a proposal amending Regulation 1311/2013 laying down the Multiannual Financial Framework for the 2014–2020 period.
The European Parliament is expected to approve these legislative acts at its dematerialised plenary session on Thursday 16 April.
