08/04/2020 (Agence Europe) – The EU Council has extended the mandate of the EU mission to support security sector reform in Iraq (EUAM Iraq) until 30 April 2022, Tuesday 7 April. The mission will continue to provide advice and expertise at the strategic level on the implementation of the civilian aspects of security sector reform in Iraq. It will also set up a 'project cell' for the identification and implementation of projects. “This unit will also play a key role in coordinating, facilitating and advising on projects implemented by EU Member States and partner countries”, according to an EU Council communiqué.
