25/03/2020 (Agence Europe) – Roberto Azevêdo, Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), called on Tuesday 24 March for WTO members to be transparent about their trade measures related to the COVID-19 pandemic. He called on them to provide the WTO with information on these measures – such as the provisions adopted by the European Commission to make the export of medical equipment subject to authorisation (see EUROPE 12451/7, 12447/7). The WTO intends to intensify its monitoring of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on world trade, Mr Azevêdo said. (HD)
