COVID-19, European Parliament committee favours intervention by euro-area rescue fund

The coordinators of the main political groups in the European Parliament’s Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) welcome the possibility of mobilising the European Stability Mechanism (ESM) to help euro-area countries deal with the economic crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
