21/02/2020 (Agence Europe) – François-Xavier Bellamy MEP (EPP, France) was appointed on Wednesday 19 February as rapporteur for the opinion on the ‘fisheries’ aspects of the new partnership with the United Kingdom. Mr Bellamy, who will draft an opinion for the European Parliament’s International Trade Committee, which is responsible for the issue, said he stood ready to “lead this essential mission to determine our future relations with the United Kingdom and ensure the future of fisheries in Europe and France”. The issue at hand is access to British waters and fishing quotas. The opinion is expected to be filed during the month of April. (LC)
