21/02/2020 (Agence Europe) – Eight MEPs from the European Parliament’s Civil Liberties Committee (LIBE) will travel to Washington and Boston next week to discuss data protection, artificial intelligence, and the fight against terrorism with US authorities. They will be in Washington from 23 to 26 February to meet with members of Congress and US government officials, among others. Discussions during the visit will also address the ‘Privacy Shield’ and negotiations on an EU-US agreement on access to electronic evidence. The delegation will spend 26 to 29 February in Boston, where the program will focus on artificial intelligence. MEPs will meet representatives of major academic centres, such as MIT and Harvard, as well as AI and robotics start-ups. (MF)
