21/02/2020 (Agence Europe) – The High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, welcomed the Palestinians’ willingness to engage in the resumption of meaningful negotiations for peace in the Middle East at a meeting in Brussels, on Thursday 20 February, with the Palestinian Foreign Minister, Riad Al-Maliki. Mr Borrell reiterated the EU’s readiness to work with both sides, as well as with regional actors and all international partners, to relaunch a political process, according to a statement by the European External Action Service. Mr Borrell and Mr Al-Maliki also discussed the situation on the ground, including the US proposals for the peace process, the prospect of elections, the political and humanitarian situation in Gaza, and the need to make progress in the process of reconciliation between Palestinian factions.
