07/02/2020 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 5 February, the S&D group in the European Parliament published a paper setting out its position on digitalisation and the need to take the social dimension into account. In essence, the Social Democrat MEPs believe that the issues related to the “platformisation” of work and the growth and increasing diversity of atypical jobs linked to digital platforms must be tackled. This raises the issue of the minimum wage and of strengthening collective bargaining. The MEPs also emphasise the need for a European Social Security Number (ESSN) to be introduced “without delay". In general terms, the paper addresses the issues of taxation of tech giants, digital infrastructure and digital gender equality. To consult the document in full, go to: http://bit.ly/2H2icoP. (PH)
