17/01/2020 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission welcomed the progress made by Bulgaria with the assistance of the Structural Reform Support Programme (SRSP) in the area of governance of state-owned enterprises, including the adoption of a new law on this matter in September and the establishment of an Agency for State-owned Enterprises and Supervision. "This reform will make Bulgarian state-owned enterprises more transparent and independent and is in line with Bulgaria's ambition to eventually join the euro area", the press release reads. The programme, which has been controversial among the regions since its inception (see EUROPE 11528/8), aims to provide - under the supervision of the Structural Reform Support Service - technical support on structural reform to all Member States which request it. Since 2017, the programme has supported more than 550 projects in 26 Member States. (PH)
