15/01/2020 (Agence Europe) – Around 20,000 young people have been selected to participate in the fourth and final session of DiscoverEU, the European Commission announced on Wednesday 15 January. This programme, launched in June 2018 (see EUROPE 12270/22), allows young people aged 18 to travel free of charge in Europe for 30 days between 1 April and 31 October. Participants are also invited to attend meetings organised throughout Europe during the summer. "Travelling in Europe and meeting young people from other countries enhances intercultural understanding, improves language skills and self-confidence," said Mariya Gabriel, Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, in a statement. The DiscoverEU 2020 session will be organised under the theme 'A Green and Sustainable Europe'. (AC)
