10/01/2020 (Agence Europe) – On Friday, 10 January, the European Commission received confirmation from the organisers of the European Citizens' Initiative (ECI) Minority SafePack - one million signatures for diversity in Europe that the initiative has attracted the support of 1.1 million citizens from 28 Member States. This means that the Commission will meet the organisers to discuss the initiative in detail. A public hearing will then be organised by the European Parliament after the Commission has decided on the next steps: bring forward legislation, take other non-legislative measures or take no action of any kind. This initiative is the fifth ECI to have successfully reached the one million signature threshold. (LC)
