16/12/2019 (Agence Europe) – A European Commission spokesman confirmed to EUROPE on Monday 16 December that he had received comments from Phnom Penh on Thursday 12 December on the Commission’s report on the suspension of tariff preferences (see EUROPE 12367/10). This report, transmitted to the Cambodian authorities on 12 November, concerns the conclusions of the investigation opened in February 2019 as part of a procedure that could recommend the suspension of Everything But Arms (EBA) tariff preferences, which benefit 5.3 billion euros of Cambodian imports (see EUROPE 12191/12). “The next step for us is to finalise the report and adopt a decision in February 2020”, he added. The Commission will determine the extent and duration of the suspension, if necessary. (HD)
