Preparations to align Swiss carbon market with European ETS are in final stages

06/12/2019 (Agence Europe) – The EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS), a market instrument to combat climate change at the lowest cost, and Switzerland's, will soon be aligned, taking effect 1 January 2020, under an agreement reached in the Joint Committee on 5 December, according to a European source. Preparations are in the final stages and the formal announcement could take place in the coming days in Madrid, during the COP25. (AN)
