26/11/2019 (Agence Europe) – MEPs of the European Parliament’s Committee on International Trade (INTA) unanimously supported (33 votes with four abstentions) the European Commission’s efforts to preserve the Appellate Body of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) in a late vote on Monday 25 November in Strasbourg (see EUROPE 12376/10, 12321/15, 12271/16, 12264/16, 12262/12). In their resolution, MEPs call for the proposals of the “Walker Report” (see EUROPE 12350/16) to be adopted, while inviting the Commission to maintain its commitment to the 136 other members of the organisation in order to identify a solution to the impasse into which the WTO Dispute Settlement Body is likely to fall. A debate will take place in the European Parliament on Tuesday evening, 26 November. The plenary vote will take place on Thursday 28 November. (HD)
