14/11/2019 (Agence Europe) – The EEAS spokeswoman called on Wednesday 13 November for the annulment of the sentence handed down by a Court in Rostov-on-Don the previous day to six Ukrainian citizens of Crimea to prison terms of 7 to 19 years. They are accused of belonging to an organization that is banned in Russia, but not in Ukraine. “The EU expects Russia to reverse these decisions and to release all illegally detained Ukrainians without delay”, the spokeswoman stressed, recalling that the EU does not recognise the enforcement of Russian legislation in Crimea and Sevastopol nor the transfer of Crimeans to courts in Russia. “The excessive sentences (...) constitute the latest targeting of Ukrainians from the Crimean peninsula”, she denounced. According to the spokeswoman, all cases of human rights violations and abuses must be thoroughly investigated. (CG)
