16/10/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 16 October, the European Commission launched a call for proposals worth €1.4 billion to develop key transport projects through the Connecting Europe Facility. "These investments will support smart and sustainable mobility and better connect our citizens across Europe", said Violeta Bulc, European Commissioner for Transport. Specifically, this sum "will help build missing connections across the continent, while focusing on sustainable transport modes". The Commission thus intends to speed up the decarbonisation of the transport sector and contribute to the completion of the trans-European transport network (TEN-T), an issue on which the Finnish Presidency hopes to reach a political agreement ('general approach') in the Council of the EU (see EUROPE 12303/6).
