16/10/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 15 October, EU Fisheries Ministers had a discussion to prepare for the annual consultations between the EU and Norway in the context of their bilateral fisheries agreement. These negotiations are due to take place in London from 18-22 November and, possibly, in Bergen from 2 to 6 December. The 1980 EU-Norway bilateral fisheries agreement covers joint stocks in the North Sea and some are jointly managed. For these jointly-managed stocks, the EU and Norway must agree on annual TACs. As for 2020, the main themes will concern: - TACs and quotas for jointly-managed fish stocks in the North Sea and Skagerrak; - the poor condition of the cod stock in the North Sea; - the exchange of fishing opportunities (including fishing opportunities for ArctoNorwegian cod).
