07/10/2019 (Agence Europe) – Following the approval by MEPs of the nominee for Cohesion Policy, Elisa Ferreira, on Friday 4 October, the Cohesion Alliance renewed all of its requests for the 2021-2027 cohesion policy, namely a cohesion policy with a budget representing at least one-third of the next overall European budget. As such, the Alliance, while welcoming the Commissioner's performance and in particular her willingness to campaign for the highest possible budget (see EUROPE 12340/3), asked that the Just Transition Fund not undermine the already reduced budget for cohesion policy in the next budgetary framework. In addition, the Alliance is concerned about the stronger link supported by Mrs Ferreira between cohesion policy and the ‘European Semester’ budget process. (PH)
