01/10/2019 (Agence Europe) – Member States' ambassadors to the EU (Coreper) are expected to suggest on Wednesday 2 October, that Switzerland be removed from the European 'grey' list of third countries that present risks of tax abuse but have committed to take corrective measures (see EUROPE 12275/26). The referendum of 19 May (see EUROPE 12258/13) put an end to company tax regimes considered aggressive for the EU and which resulted in Switzerland being placed on the ‘grey’ list. According to our information, Coreper is also expected to suggest removing five other countries from the 'grey' list and two countries from the European 'black' list of non-cooperative jurisdictions for tax purposes. These withdrawals will have to be validated by the European finance ministers at their meeting in Luxembourg on 10 October. (MF)
