01/10/2019 (Agence Europe) – The European Union remains the world's largest destination market for satellite exports, worth $5 billion over the last decade, according to a major study published by Eurospace on Tuesday 1 October. Europe therefore remains a net exporter of satellites and is second only to the United States. As a result, the sector is making a positive contribution to the European trade surplus, the study notes. However, Europe is constantly suffering from a trade deficit with the United States, equivalent to about $2 billion over the last decade, with US exports more than doubling compared to European exports over the same period. However, according to the study, this deficit would be offset by opportunities for European satellites in other markets, such as Saudi Arabia, Canada and Brazil.
