25/09/2019 (Agence Europe) – The European Parliament is ready to resume negotiations with the EU Council on the proposal for a European Cybersecurity Centre. On Wednesday 25 September, MEPs from the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) confirmed the negotiating mandate from the former term. As a reminder, two trilogues have already been organised on this proposal to establish a European Cybersecurity Industrial, Technology and Research Competence Centre and a Network of National Coordination Centres. However, they were not successful, as the EU Council rejected the idea of introducing co-financing. In response to the Legal Service's opinion, the latter could vote on a new negotiating mandate before resuming talks with Parliament. This time, German MEP Rasmus Andresen (Greens/EFA) will take the lead in Parliament, replacing the former rapporteur, Julia Reda, who did not run again. Link: http://bit.ly/2n7MAao (SPj)
