25/09/2019 (Agence Europe) – Ambassadors of the EU Member States (Coreper) agreed on Wednesday 25 September to further extend, for six months, the sanctions against the President of the Libyan Council of Deputies in the House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, the President of the National General Congress, Nouri Abu Sahmein, and the Prime Minister of this Congress not recognised by the international community, Khalifa al-Ghweil. These three politicians are subject to restrictive measures to obstruct the implementation of the December 2015 Political Agreement in Libya and the creation of a Government of National Accord in the country. These measures were first imposed in April 2016 and run until 2 October 2019. The formal decision should be adopted by written procedure. (CG)
