05/09/2019 (Agence Europe) – The EU delegations in Jerusalem and Ramallah on Wednesday 4 September denounced the demolition by the Israeli authorities of a house, farm and restaurant belonging to the same Palestinian family near Bethlehem, between the villages of Battir and Beit Jala, in Zone C, in the West Bank, ending 15 years of legal battle. “These demolitions, together with settlement construction for Israelis in the area, exacerbate threats to the viability of the two-state solution and further undermine prospects for a lasting peace”, they said in a statement. Delegations made it clear that the EU expects the Israeli authorities to fully comply with their obligations as an occupying power under international humanitarian law and denounced Israel's settlement policy and the measures taken in this context.
