28/08/2019 (Agence Europe) – Towards the end of the morning of Tuesday 27 August, Karl-Heinz Lambertz (PES, Belgium), the President of the European Committee of the Regions (CoR), and David-Maria Sassoli (S&D, Italy), the President of the European Parliament, met to discuss the issue of strengthening cooperation between their two bodies, and to discuss the recommendations from local and regional authorities regarding the future of the European Union that were published in June (see EUROPE 12272/24). The two politicians, who met for around 45 minutes, discussed the main themes in the CoR document, which develops the concept of "active subsidiarity" and the question of establishing permanent dialogue in particular. The document is expected to be the focus of attention during the Week of the Regions, to be held in Brussels from 7 to 10 October 2019. To consult the CoR document, go to: http://bit.ly/2MIxP9J. (PH)
