28/08/2019 (Agence Europe) – The leader of the Partito Democratico (PD), Nicola Zingaretti, informed the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, on Wednesday 28 August, of the Social Democrats' readiness to form a government with Movimento 5 Stelle (M5S). "We love Italy and think it is worth trying this experiment" in order to set up "a government of change and discontinuity", he said, according to La Repubblica. Objective: to guarantee political stability in Italy and to re-establish it within the heart of European integration. It would be up to the M5S to decide on the name of the Prime Minister, in this case Giuseppe Conte. The PD would obtain the vice-presidency, while the M5S leader is still calling for an additional vice-presidency similar to the previous government formed for one year by the M5S and the Lega. (MB)
