On 18 July, the European Commission updated its notice to stakeholders on the .eu domain name to take into account the third postponement of the UK's exit date from the EU.
Indeed, the new Regulation (2019/517), which provides for extended eligibility criteria, will start to apply before 31 October, the date on which the United Kingdom is expected to leave the EU.
As a result, the new notice (updating a document dated 28 March) recalls that European citizens who own a .eu domain name while residing in the United Kingdom will be able to keep that domain name after the country leaves the EU.
It specifies that British owners will also have the possibility to keep their domain name "if they reside or are established in the EU Twenty-Seven". The others will no longer be entitled to it. See the document on page: https://bit.ly/30Qz1ut (SPj)
