19/07/2019 (Agence Europe) – Finland's EU Council Presidency has already begun to prepare the EU Council's position on the revision of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), according to a document dated 18 July. The Commission must submit a report to the European Parliament and the EU Council on the evaluation and revision of the regulation by 25 May 2020, taking into account the positions of the co-legislators. After an initial working group discussion on 3 September, Member States will be invited to submit written comments on their experiences with the implementation of the GDPR. A first draft report is expected to be discussed on 21 October, while adoption of the final version of the report is expected by the end of the year. In addition, on Wednesday 24 July, the College of Commissioners is expected to adopt a Commission Communication reviewing the first year of the Regulation’s application. (MF)
