16/07/2019 (Agence Europe) – While the European Parliament's Transport Committee has just been set up (see EUROPE 12293/5), the International Union for Road-Rail combined transport (UIRR) took this opportunity to publish a policy document setting out its main priorities for this new mandate. The organization identifies 13 points that it considers essential. Not surprisingly, the UIRR calls for the discussions to be completed on the delicate social and market aspects of the first ‘mobility’ package (see EUROPE 12229/1, 12152/10). It also wants the dossier on combined transport, linked to the previous questions, to be finalised (see EUROPE 12223/2). Among the organisation's other priorities, it should be noted that it recommends, in particular, revising the guidelines on the trans-European transport network (TEN-T), the Rail Freight Corridor Regulation and adopting the new Directive on motorway charges (see EUROPE 12272/5, 12125/2).
