05/07/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 5 July, the European Commission launched the European Labour Authority's website and the recruitment procedure for its staff. The European Labour Authority, whose permanent headquarters will be in Bratislava (see EUROPE 12274/5), will start its work in mid-October and is expected to be fully operational in 2024, with a team of 140 people, including some officials seconded by the Member States. The authority will inform citizens and businesses about their rights and duties in cross-border situations, facilitate the exchange of information between Member States, facilitate joint inspections - at the request of Member States - in a cross-border situation in cases of fraud, abuse and undeclared work and finally, play a mediation role in disputes between two Member States (see EUROPE 12194/1).
