One in four MEPs is committed to working on LGBTI equality in new European Parliament, according to ILGA-EUROPE

18/06/2019 (Agence Europe)ILGA-EUROPE, which represents the LGBTI cause at European level, announced last week that nearly 215 MEPs from eight different European political groups have signed the Coming Out manifesto, in order to fight for the LGBTI cause during the next mandate. They are committed to filling gaps in legal protection to combat discrimination, hate speech and crimes based on sexual orientation, gender identity and sexual characteristics. They will focus in particular on the rights of trans and intersex people, but also on LGBTI asylum seekers. In addition, they are calling for the effective implementation of the Coman judgment of the European Court of Justice (ECJ) of 5 June, which recognises the obligation to recognise the same-sex spouse's right of residence.
