27/05/2019 (Agence Europe) – Made up of citizens from all over Europe, the pan-European Volt Party won its first seat in the European Parliament on Sunday 26 May, following the European elections. While Volt had 146 candidates in eight different Member States (see EUROPE 12250/6), it was finally Damian Boeselager, co-founder and Spitzenkandidat of the party, who was elected and will be responsible for “representing all of Volt's [national] departments in Parliament”. “With this seat, Volt is committed to all Europeans. This is an important first step in reforming the EU so that it is there for all its residents”, said Mr Boeselager. As for the European Parliament group that Volt will join, the decision should be taken within the party in the coming days. (DG – intern)
