France, Germany and Netherlands take initiative to relaunch Capital Markets Union

The French, German and Dutch Finance Ministers proposed to set up a high-level working group on the Capital Markets Union (CMU), in a letter signed on Thursday 16 May in the margins of the Eurogroup meeting (see EUROPE B12257A6). 

“Challenges in the form of climate and technological change, as well as the United Kingdom’s decision to leave the European Union... make the need for a well-designed capital market for the EU to become an urgent strategic issue”, they explain.
