Commission proposes to update its Anti-Fraud Strategy

On Monday 29 April, the European Commission adopted a communication on its Anti-Fraud Strategy aimed at putting in place “enhanced action to protect the EU budget”.

Through this document, the Commission updates the 2011 'Commission Anti-Fraud Strategy', which guides the Commission services and executive agencies in their fight against fraud and corruption affecting the European Union's financial interests.

The priority objectives of the new strategy will be to provide the Commission with a stronger analytical capacity for purposes of prevention and detection and with a more centralised system of oversight for its anti-fraud action.

The Action Plan accompanying the strategy, which is addressed to the Commission services and executive agencies, also aims to improve anti-fraud cooperation and workflows across the board, such as the Commission’s and other EU bodies cooperation with the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) and the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) which is currently being established.
