EU Council agrees to revision of rules governing European Citizens' Initiative

09/04/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 9 April, the EU Council adopted the updated Regulation on European Citizens' Initiatives (ECI), following the Interinstitutional Agreement of 12 December 2018 (see EUROPE B12159A20). This Regulation, which will apply from 1st January 2020, makes a number of changes to the 2011 Regulations (see EUROPE B10315A7), such as lowering the age for participation to 16 years, in those Member States that so wish to.
