The European Parliament's Committee on Budgetary Control decided, on Monday, 8 April in Brussels, to give an unfavourable opinion on the EU Council's proposal to appoint Viorel Ştefan as a Romanian Member of the EU Court of Auditors.
The Romanian candidate received the support of eight deputies, while 12 rejected his nomination. During the hearing of Viorel Ştefan, several MEPs questioned his role in the country's poor record in tackling corruption.
