05/04/2019 (Agence Europe) – Total nuclear heat production in the EU in 2017 amounted to 210,726,000 tonnes of oil equivalent, a decrease of 10.0% compared to 2009 and a decrease of 1.3% below the 2016 value, according to data provided by Eurostat on Thursday 4 April. By 2017, nuclear reactors were in operation in 14 EU Member States: Belgium, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Spain, France, Hungary, the Netherlands, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Finland, Sweden and the United Kingdom. France was the largest producer of nuclear heat in 2017 (103,861 thousand tonnes of oil equivalent), followed by Germany (19,655 ktoe) and Sweden (16,351 ktoe). (LC)
