06/03/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 6 March, the ambassadors of the Member States to the European Union (Committee of the Permanent Representatives - Coreper) adopted their negotiating position on possible EU measures to ensure rail security and connectivity between the EU and the United Kingdom in the event of a no deal Brexit. The approved text is the same as the draft mandate of 4 March detailed in our columns (see EUROPE 12207). Ismail Ertug (S&D, Germany), rapporteur in the European Parliament on this issue, must now define his position. As described in our last issue, it is the urgent procedure that will apply from the European Parliament’s side and a first (and probably the last) informal discussion between the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union and European Parliament representatives on this matter is due to take place on Monday 11 March.
