United States ahead of EU in number of electric cars sold, according to T&E

06/03/2019 (Agence Europe)The United States has become the 2nd largest electric car market in the world, with 361,000 electric vehicles sold in 2018 (a 2.1% market share), according to a new Transport & Environment (T&E) study released on Wednesday 6 March. The European Union is relegated to 3rd place with 302,000 cars (a market share of 2%). Sales on the other side of the Atlantic have experienced a very sharp incline in the last quarter, with an increase of 120% compared to 2017 and compared to 33% for the European Union. According to T&E, the fault lies with European manufacturers, who want above all to preserve the European diesel market and have little interest in electricity. China remains at the top of the list with more than one million electric vehicles sold in the same year and a market share of 4%.  To read the study: https://bit.ly/2UmZi0V. (PH)
