The European Parliament reiterates its call for a 'comprehensive, permanent and objective' monitoring mechanism to protect democratic pillars

MEPs called upon the European Commission on Wednesday 14 November, in a resolution adopted by show of hands, to develop an ambitious mechanism for monitoring the rule of law in Member States and deplored that this has not yet been the case, even though the Parliament had already established this request in 2016. 

This ambitious mechanism on the rule of law is now more "urgent than ever", stresses the text adopted, prepared by the EPP, S&D, ALDE and Greens/EFA groups. The EU "needs a...
