Green light to acquisition of sole control of EMI Music Publishing by Sony

On Friday 26 October, the European Commission cleared plans for the acquisition of sole control of EMI Music Publishing (EMI MP) by Sony Corporation of America (Sony) under EU competition rules.

EMI MP is a music publishing company currently controlled by Sony and Mubadala Investment Company PJSC (Mubadala). Sony/ATV, a music publishing subsidiary wholly owned by Sony, is the exclusive administrator of EMI MP's entire catalogue, whereas EMI MP itself plays no role in licensing its catalogue...
