The member state ambassadors to the European Union (Coreper) decided, on Wednesday 24 October, on the position of the EU Council on the modalities enabling the inclusion of safeguard measures in free trade agreements to be streamlined.
These safeguard measures enable the temporary suspension of tariff preferences in cases where a sector or industry undergoes (or could undergo) serious harm following the increase in imports of a given product.
