23/10/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 23 April, the European Parliament approved the amending agreements adopted in the Parliament's civil liberties committee on 27 September regarding the visa-waiver regimes for short-term stays granted to several islands in the Indian Ocean and Caribbean (see EUROPE 12105). The amended agreements concern Barbados, Mauritius, St Kitts and Nevis, as well as the Seychelles, Antigua and Barbuda, and the Bahamas. The amended visa-waiver agreements for short-term stays are aimed at ensuring legal coherence, as well as harmonisation between the member states by being in conformity with the new definition of a short-term stay provided for by the amendment of the Schengen Borders Code. In reality it involves replacing the term "three-month period" with "90-day period". (SP)
